Origins
According to the battalion’s original account, the unit was established on 17 February 2011 as the Al-Jawareh Battalion, by a decision of Defence Minister Jalal Al-Daghili. Initially part of the Land Forces Command, it later joined the Libyan Special Forces under Brigadier General Wanis Bukhamada.
The account describes operations in Benghazi under commanders including Mohammed Al-Qabsi and Naji Al-Darsi, followed by an assignment to secure Sabha in 2012. It records the unit’s participation in Operation Dignity under Khalifa Belqasim Haftar and honours the sacrifices of its members.
